Also pre-ordered, though the confirmed presence of Crysalids makes me a sad panda. Though at least they can't fly like Tenaculats.

Pre-ordered also. I still have the old XCOMs installed but haven't played them. Was going to get into them the other week then realised the new one is so close I'll just wait. I'll just think of the old ones like turn based Syndicate.

I only really remember the Grey-looking dudes from the first game. Been waaay too long since I last played it.

...by that I mean it was a PSOne launch or launch-window title, with the Saturn-style big case and everything.

The demo apparently isn't that great a taste of the game, I mean it's a taste of the style of game but it's pretty hand-holdy which a lot of xcom fans got antsy about. It's an SRPG with perma-death and the odds constantly stacked against you.

The game is hard. Some people said the demo is a little hand-holdy, but these comments have come from fans of the old XCOM games where there was no tutorial. Sorta like when I first played FFTactics without understanding the systems and had no idea what was going on... but tougher.

GiantBomb talked about it for for like 40 minutes on the Bombcast and they were like "this game is great, but fuck this game." Ryan said he turned the difficulty down from Normal to Easy to beat one mission, but it was still hard. There are four tiers of difficulty - Easy / Normal / Classic / Impossible. From that standpoint it may be your kind of game :pac

Should we all in on an Iron Man pact? In this mode you are only allowed one save and it saves every time you take an action. Zero do-overs.

Interestingly enough, Iron Man can be applied to any difficulty mode, even Easy. I'm tempted, but I might do a normal run first.

Also, a couple unlockable characters via name entry...
