FFX/X-2 HD, both versions (Vita Bundle and PS3), are on sale on PSN for $20, right now.

And, Lightning Returns is on for $25... should anyone want to spend so much on it. (I'll likely get it if/when it falls to $10)

Okay. Let's hope the game doesn't look too bad on my new TV.

...Oh. I forgot my PS3 is kinda shit, right now! I currently have a Gatorade bottle full of water over the disc cover plate, so that the disc will spin properly. Yay!! :crossarm

Oh, well. It'll do.

Edit: Actually, I'm watching the opening FMV, and it doesn't look too bad.

I forgot how engaging the prologue video (the battle at Nalbina and the death of the Prince) is!

Edit: The text from Ondore's speech is a little fuzzy. Not terrible, but noticeable.

"Reks". Oh Thor, that spelling! :picard

Okay, I'm shutting of that rumble, ASAP!

Fuckin' inverted controls! Give me damn menu, so I can change that! :argh:

Yeah FF12 is in no hurry to give you access to menu options.

Man, it's gonna take a long ass time to get through this game if it keeps freezing! Damn shit PS2! I have no idea how that door plate thing bowed.

Edit: It is funny how there is some movement when the cinematics freeze! Watching Penelo stuck in a half turn, with her hair still blowing in the breeze...

I got my PS2 to play Final Fantasy IX, but it struggled mightily with any of the games after it. I eventually burned images off of my PS2 discs and used an emulator. :¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I went through three PS2s over the course of it's life, those things were not built well at all. On one I ended up having to epoxy a stack of dimes to the center of the disk drive to keep it on balance so it could read the blue disks they started using later.

I have issues with mine periodically, and the cure has always been to run one of the those discs with the lens brush on it. I think I spent less than $5 on that 10 years ago. Ironically, the first time it fucked out on me was when I was playing X-2 (which is what I'm now playing on my Vita), which is why I never finished the game then.

I was hoping this thread was about Final Fantasy II--the only one I never tried to play.

Well you should get on it! FF2 is one of my favorites in the whole series. The story is meh, but gameplay wise it's a ton of fun. It's the first experiment with what would become the SaGa system and a very good version of it as well an almost completely open world right from the start. The PSP and GBA ports of it are the best.

Well, we could use it as an FF2 thread, but it's a catchall FF thread. I just used that name to abuse an available joke at the time.

Also, just saying, the iOS port of FF2 is nice too, if you're into that sort of thing. I did not find it very hard to play on my phone, and it looks very pretty.

FFVII = See FFVI.
FFVIII = Sucks.

FFXII-RW = Never played it.
FFXIII = Never played it.
FFXIII-2 = Pretty, but kinda boring.
FFXIII-3 = Never played.
FFXIV = Never played.
FFT = Loved it at the time, but after playing Disgaea, the gameplay in Tactics is pretty lame.
FFTA = HAET.
FFTA2 = Never played.
FFMQ = Fun, if overly easy.
FFCC = No sir, I don't like it.
FFCC-RoF = Never played it.
FFCC-MLaaK = Never played it.

I'm only counting games with Final Fantasy in the title. That's why games like Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus aren't on there.

Technically, the title of Dirge of Cerberus is Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII -.

But I don't blame you for not including it either way.

Opinion on FFV: Patently false.

Has best battle/job system in series.
