I've promoted her (currently in a Duma team - Duma / Fell!Celia / Fell!Delthea / Fell!Tiki) but I hadn't put anything in her B slot yet, I'll drop desperation in there thanks!

This pair up event is so cute. I did the quests with Ike/Soren. Can't wait to get all the structures for my Aether Keep. I might even say fuck it and do a theme team because my serious one rarely wins anyway.

Naga was already basically leaked so not shocked on that point. However, another AR exclusive skill. Boring to me. Her C skill is interesting, though.

Blue: Naga (maybe? I'll pull? Idk), CYL!Hector (got another dupe recently and he's not even good fodder since his good skills are exclusive), L!Tiki (worth pulling for).
Green: L!Lyn (lol no), NY!Fjorm (have, and she's great if you want her), Lugh (have).
Red: L!Ericka (don't have but meh), Hrid (don't have but meh), NY! Gunnthra (don't have but meh).
Colorless: NY!Leavatein (I like her as a character but I have Veronica so...), Duma (should probably pull for), Velouria (wouldn't mind having her).

So uh, kind of underwhelming to me this time around, but colorless is my color (heh) of choice. Red would be my backup due to lack of having any, and blue my next backup since I wouldn't mind 2 of them. Green can die in a fire (so long, Soren copies, for now...)

I'm definitely pulling on blue, I have Hector but could def use either Tiki or Naga. Between her weapon and C-skill she gets +9 to all stats pretty much always which should make her a huge wall of a character. Probably a good case for the Michalis A-slot that cancels bow effectiveness against her.

Her outfit is peak superhero bodypaint though

I might try for Naga but my orb floor is approaching 500 now and I'd like to keep that rolling.

I think what I'll do is pull everything but green until I get one unit, and stop there regardless of who it is. That'll save me orbs vs. sniping for one color, since I'm not super enthused for anyone. I have 200 orbs and I'm pretty sure that's a record for me. Unless the new units in June are amazing, I'll be able to snipe for V!Soren with confidence next month. But the new June units will have 4 tickets in addition to the free pull, so that makes things easier.

82 orbs netted me a -Spd Velouria :/ At least she's a cool character but that fucking IV...

I nuked my orb count down to 300 but got that Naga in the end. And a couple of Hectors and Tikis too.

Wow, this fucking voting gauntlet. Usually there are 2 banners to free pull on, so I'm disappointed.

Anyway, Pent and Louise are an obvious couple and on the current banner/TT.

As for the other 6...

Sigurd and Dierdre (boring, and Dierdre follows me even though I've never wanted her)
Quan and Ethlyn (also boring, and they at least mention Ethlyn is a grail unit)
And... Karla and Bartre. Fucking lol. Bartre is so shitty that he's not on the banner nor even mentioned as a common 3-4 star unit. It's just... implied. Like yeah, none of you want him. Here's Karla though. (Sadly, I did not get her on my free pull).

I think I'll go with Louise on the gauntlet because her free unit is pretty solid.

it's wild to me that Thracia was a Super Famicom game released in 1999. that's gotta be one of the last things out on that platform, right?

I guess that alone probably kept it in Japanese. By '99 I dunno what their platform options would've been outside Japan. Wouldn't have worked on a Gameboy, wouldn't have sold on the N64. Probably?

Taking a look, and it seems like Super Famicom games went into 1999 pretty easily, although a lot of stuff after 1996 is pachinko, mahjong and quiz games. Four games came out for the system in 2000! Three of them were Picross.

Yikes. I feel like by 2000 even the PS1 was pretty much done in English territories. Saturn had been retired for a couple years, Dreamcast was already halfway through its lifespan

Japan must have a far stronger market for puzzle and casino games than we do. Here it's just all Madden and FIFA keeping the lights on for old consoles after next-gen transitions.

I feel like in the pre-PS3 days, we also got a lot of budget-feeling shooters and platformers. That and EA Sports are the nearest thing we have, like you say.

There absolutely was a huge market for, like, salarymen and older guys who just wanted to play shogi or whatever after work while smoking non-stop and they weren't gonna get a new console to do it until they absolutely had to. It's no coincidence that the stinkiest SFC carts I ever saw were Japanese casino game carts. The sheer amount of these types of games has to be seen to be believed.

I never played them, duh, but there's something somehow nostalgia and, I dunno, Aesthetic? about the whole thing.

I imagine the rising console development costs and phone market has eaten that lunch pretty conclusively.

Oh totally, I feel like I've seen a ton of Tumblrs trading in that kinda thing, from the random retrowave blogs to the 80/90s glitch stuff, though maybe more often with those weird super cheap porn games that were basically just like, a bunch of bad JPEGs shoved onto a Super Famicom cart. Not much is more glitchwave (?) than blurry pixely hentai rendered kinda awkwardly by an old Japanese game console

Speaking of Thracia, I was going through my Hero list in FEH because I noticed, now that I'm playing Shadow Dragon, that FE1 has tons of characters in Heroes, more than I realized. However, Thracia barely has 2 rows worth, and 2 of them are Reinhardt and Olwen alts. Ouch. So yeah, that game has been given the shaft pretty badly. I wonder if it sold badly due to when it came out, so maybe that's why it's not given any attention, aside from the Japanese only part, which doesn't seem to be hurting FE6 as much.

I threw my hundred orbs at the banner, and got a dupe Lance!Hector. Going to keep trying to see if I can get anyone else since I still kinda want all of the blue.

So glad I gave up after getting a normal unit with shit IVs for 80 orbs. I should have let my lack of excitement for this banner speak for itself.

New (regular) units on the 11th, though. We'll probably get a trailer Sunday. Anyone want to take any guesses of what it will be? I've noticed people griping that despite there being a lot of Awakening characters in the game in general, there has not been a single new Awakening character added since the beginning of the year... so I'm thinking that. Still hoping we get Cynthia one day. She is best daughter.

I'm excited for Kagero's personal weapon refine, since she's my only +10 at the moment. It will make me a little sad to not have her clutching a carrot anymore.
