If Tracer is what it takes for Cammy to wear pants, I'm in. Also it's scary how well a lot of those characters fit.

Anyway, OWL is back to start Stage 3 today, huhuhuuuhuhuhuhuh.

First match just happens to be the Dragons vs. the Fuel in a battle for the bottom. The Dragons' issues are too well documented at this point to spend any time pouring over, but the Fuel have also spent the last stage/stage-and-a-half imploding hilariously. xQc was just their most high-profile disaster. There were like three or four more smaller disasters.

As such, today's match against the Dragons is expected to be pretty wild, with the Fuel kinda still in chaos, and the Dragons turning over most/all of their starting roster in addition to bringing in Geguri. No one has any fuckin' clue what either team is gonna look like.

I BELIEVE IN DRAGONS but it would be smart not to just assume they're gonna roll in and pubstomp the shattered remains of the Dallas Fuel just 'cause they signed Geguri and several other Korean players (Rob Zacny had an article about the glass cliff which fits here)

Here's a rundown of all the player movement between stages. There was a ton.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveove ... _signings/

A new stage also means a new map list. Blizzard World has been added to the rotation, which could be a huge mess given how young it still is, I have no idea what the comp/pro solution is to that thing or if there even is one yet.

I haven't watched a game in a while. I might tune in for the Dragons return.

Some guy on Twitter who appears to be the Dave Meltzer of esports (he's a blue checkmark, who am I to argue) says Geguri will be starting for the Dragons tonight along with three other Korean signings in Fearless, Ado, and Daemin. I don't know much about those three but if the Fuel are still a clusterfuck they could be in trouble.

There was a funny story between stages about xQc attempting to team with Geguri in comp or something, but couldn't 'cause her skill rating was too high. :pac So if he was supposedly Dallas' star tank, well :pacdown

Comms should at least be way easier for the Dragons with four Korean speakers versus just one thrown in with five speaking (I assume) Mandarin. That's one somewhat esports specific thing I always find pretty wild. Like, hockey or whatever at the NHL level is a pretty international thing, but it also kinda has its own physical language, y'know?

Yep, your hot scoops source called it. Now let's see how they do.

Ado's Genji is dangerous. Effect is kinda looking like the only thing keeping Dallas alive here.

This is a long-ass pause.

Shanghai looking better. More consistent, more composed, more aggressive. If they can shut down Effect's Tracer they should have a chance. I wonder if Geguri will break out her Zarya or stick to D.Va.

Also here's another goofy-ass Overwatch comic

Zarya'd be a brave pick for OWL meta, wouldn't it?

Possibly, yeah. She shows up more than Reinhardt but most OWL tanks seem to main either D.Va or Winston with Roadhog a somewhat distant third.

Might also depend a little on the maps though. Most of the OWL Zaryas showed up on King's Row, which is out of the rotation for Stage 3.

Do we know that the Dragons are actually struggling to communicate mid-game due to language barriers or is this just speculation from the goofs At The Desk?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So many teams are running with language barriers of some kind it should theoretically be a problem for everyone. I think their bigger problem right this moment is dealing with the new Sombra build or countering Effect's otherworldly ability to carry a whole team on his back.

Stage jitters might also be a thing if all four of Shanghai's new recruits don't have arena experience in the older Korean leagues.

It also feels vaguely, to my noob ass, that Shanghai blanks when their initial, fairly effective, plans are eventually countered. No/little contingency. That could also be from the rush of getting a new team together and getting them on the same page.

Yeah, like, that was a very strong hold they had on Ilios Lighthouse, even if they eventually lost the point, and they also traded control on Ilios Ruins pretty well with the Fuel.

If it my beer league ass out there I would've tried to bumrush AKM's Widow on the back line (and probably get myself smoked in the process.) Splitting a team to simultaneously counter that Widow and Effect's Tracer is a challenge I'm not sure how to deal with at this level.

Geguri did well and anyone trying to single her out is pretty shitty.

Seems to me that Shanghai is still just not working as a team well enough. But that makes a lot more sense with a new team in stage 3, rather than the regular Dragons at the end of stage 2.

Geguri was pretty much solo-holding that payload with the Orisa back there. Pirate ship comp still in play.

I wonder how much practice anyone got versus the new look Sombra. She's waaaay more dangerous now than before.

Daemin finally waking up is important. Nothing worse than a half-asleep Widow on offense.
