Yup, this thing will the shit litigated out of. It'll be ugly.

Is it strange that I'm legit excited for Nintendo's upcoming mobile ARPG Dragalia Lost? I mean, it's gonna have micro-transactions all over the place, but for some raisin I'm still eager to dig in.

I guess that's a way to get whatever money there is left in the company before the shareholders and banks sweep it all up.

Grasshopper's Let It Die is now on Steam.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/0 ... sed-on-pc/

I played it for a while on the PS4 early on in my PS4 days when I was waiting for Persona 5 to come out or whatever. It's a really weird thing which may or may not benefit at all from suddenly having a Steam version. But hey, at least it's still free. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Firaxis is putting out a pretty cool bit of DLC for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, adding new modes, a bunch of equipment and cosmetics from Enemy Unknown/Within, the soundtracks from those games, and even nods to all things XCOM going back to the original UFO Defense.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bkTJAZM4i4

It'll be free (for a while) if you've got War of the Chosen, which I... do not. It's always a tad pricey, even on sale, at least for an expansion, anyway.

I'll have to remember to jump in and grab it during the window, though I haven't played XCOM2 in ages.

Anyone getting Super Mario Party? Like most people I was turned off by a decade of Wii/Wii U controls for its minigames, but the newest entry is getting fair-to-solid reviews.

I've never been a Nintendo guy, so my exposure to Mario Party has been GiantBomb's series on it.

Possible Switch hardware update coming next year. Probably along the lines of the various DS/3DS Lites, XLs, etc.

https://kotaku.com/report-new-nintendo- ... 1829513370

Who knows when exactly. As late as fall/winter 2019 maybe. Might be worth holding off on getting one this year on Black Friday or whatever if the update is dropping a little earlier. Or, the update might drop the price of the current model.

I'll probably just grab whichever Switch is cheapest around about whenever Fire Emblem and SMT show up.

Same. Since I'll be paying off the credit card I just bought my phone with around Black Friday, I'll be skipping any console deals this time around. Still have a large PS3/4 backlog, anyway. But it's cool that they're updating it.

I used to play the N64 Mario Party games and they were fun, but some of the mini games really messed up the palm of my hand (anything that made you rotate the joystick really fast) so the controls were never great, to be honest.

So it turns out the development of Walking Dead: Final Season is being handed over to Skybound Entertainment. The cycle is complete.

I still haven't played Episode 2, because fuck it.

Who? Hold on...

Oh! So, the original creator gets to take back the reins? Sweet! I always liked that first run of comics better than it's equivalent first half of the first season. And, a hell of a lot better than the second half!

Microsoft seems to be close to acquiring Obsidian.

Looks like the cutoff is December 3rd, so you've got some time.

Oh, the Steam page for Backbone went up while I wasn't paying attention. Can't remember if I mentioned this one before. It'll be out sometime next year.

Detective noir set in a retrofuture-y Vancouver filled with animal people. The number of games set in Vancouver can probably be counted on one hand, and you might not even need all the fingers, and some of those fingers might just be for Road Rash levels or somethin', I dunno. So it's got that going for it, which is nice.

alpha protocol 2 please

Is Kotaku more of a reliable source these days? Real question. I haven't really been to that site since they showed how gullible they were with the whole Xbox Pure thing like... 10 years ago.

Kotaku is fine. If you see anyone whining about Kotaku these days, they're probably GG shitheads.

Heh, I can't speak to Alpha Protocol, but if Microsoft purchases Obsidian I gotta imagine it'll be the end of any hopes for another Obsidian Fallout, 'cause Microsoft would probably be gunning for Windows/XB1 exclusivity and I doubt Bethesda would farm-out the license again on those terms.

Almost 9,000 Commodore 64 games have been added to the Internet Archive, playable in yer browsers, or at least in Chrome, anyway.

I have to admit that much like kids today find the PS1 pretty primitive, the C64 is an era too far for me. I'd play like 10 of them for 90 seconds apiece. I'm a fake video game fan.

Yeah, very few things from that ancient generation hold up for more than a few minutes. Those that do were probably arcade ports that were better in the arcade or on other hardware.

The C64 to me is all about Paradroid, Impossible Mission, Law of the West, California/Winter/Summer Games, Raid on Bungeling Bay, Up 'n' Down, Wizard, Jumpman, Lode Runner, and Dino Eggs, some of which have better versions elsewhere.

(Honestly these days I'd rather watch Jeff stream even the best of the C64 catalogue than play 'em myself.)

I played a lot of California Games on the Mega Drive, even though the BMX and hacky-sack games were the only games I was even remotely mediocre at. So that's something!

Old game streams are usually good, especially when people know their shit, like Jeff.

My bf bought a C64 a few years ago and I *think* he still uses it? (It's in the basement now where I rarely go I so I'd never see him using it now either way) but he grew up with one, so that makes sense. I wouldn't even know how to command it. My first console was the NES.
