That's crazy. I'm seeing it for slightly less than $20 used on Amazon, so I'm not sure why the physical copies are so much cheaper than the digital ones.

I saw that at Gamestop too and was curious. Never played the original for more than 5 minutes, though.

Okay Del, if you're on the fence and can get the game for a reasonable price, get Berseria for sure. Loving the cast and the fact that none of the initial members are human, and 3/4 aren't good or "pure" at all. Lots of church bashing, too. Even Mike, who only sees snipets of the games I play, agrees that this game is way better than Zesteria. Tales of always has some cringy dialogue, but this has much less of it than I'm used to.

Indeed! Installed it overnight. I'll probably jump in sometime today.

I wonder if any of the DLC ever goes on sale 'cause some of those extra costumes are pretty good.

I haven't even looked through the "5 free catalogs" you have to download to even see the DLC yet XD

Just got the catalogs and the free items (but after watching the skits, I totally forgot to check what those were when I was actually playing the game earlier). Looked at the costumes... still wishing I could just buy some individually instead of whole sets, as some sets have one person looking awesome and others like meh or really bad. The pirate set, though... might spring for the pirate set.

My Roll20 group wrapped our first D&D (5E) mini-campaign last week, which was nice and breezy, at least compared to our massive Pathfinder Kingmaker run, which we'll get back to eventually.

So tonight we rolled new characters for a Rifts campaign. Rifts is (thematically) kinda like Shadowrun, but a little more "kitchen sink" in the sense where if you can imagine it, it probably exists somewhere in this world. It's a future post-apocalypse that's become kind of a cyberpunk setting but also the rifts which caused the apocalypse also brought [insert sci-fi/fantasy thing here] into the world and everything's fucked.

Also the systems haven't been updated in decades so it's probably gonna need tons of house rules to still be playable. :pac Glad I'm not the GM.

Nice! My D&D group have trouble getting everyone in line for sessions, so one of my players has set up a side campaign which is less story heavy and designed so that it can just roll with whoever is avaiable that day. It's great for me because I get to just play a character instead of balancing encounters and setting up story hooks!

I miss playing D&D/Pathfinder. Sigh. My soujourn has led the mighty Evekovian to be put into a deep sleep for the foreseeable future.

Edit: Advanced, if anyone is curious.

Welp, Before the Storm's bonus episode "Farewell" is up and out. Gonna jump into that pretty soon.

Yeah (my) tumblr is awash with photosets and gifs, I attempt to scroll past it since I haven't played yet but I guess there's not any huge spoilers or anything. I still want to absorb it myself before reading everyone else's hot takes though.

I finished it not long ago. I dunno if "bittersweet" really does it justice 'cause you could probably describe the bulk of the franchise with that one word, but that's definitely a starting point, and for a number of raisins.

Can't be a Life is Strange game without a heavy death. :pacdown
Spoiler :
Man the parallels between the end of this and the Bay ending kicked my arse. The funeral mirroring Chloe's funeral, and then Chloe on the floor dying inside shortly after the last time she ever sees Max mirroring the shot of Max sitting on the floor with all her photos after sacrificing Chloe and knowing how they reconnected and fell in love and now she's gone and there is noone in the world she can even talk to about any of it. Far better than the heavy handed photo-booth into dark room shit from BtS.
Also I want Max's t-shirt from this episode.

So many neat parallels in Farewell to all kinds of stuff in BtS and Season 1.
Spoiler :
You've probably already seen the gifs, but just little things like Max and Chloe's motions and mannerisms and how they're framed are mirrors of things they do later. I really appreciated those small touches. There's some nice new possible symbolism in there too, like when Max plays with the snowglobe, which has the doe inside.

Someone elsewhere claimed they saw Future Max's butterfly graffiti on the fireplace for a moment before it fades away. Dunno if they're bullshitting 'cause I definitely made a point to look for it and saw nothing.

I had a feeling Chloe already knew Max was leaving before Max said anything (alternately, I've heard if you never tell Chloe you'll get a somewhat different recording in the final scene, but I couldn't bring myself to keep anything from Chloe.)

I resisted the urge to play the answering machine message. It felt like a bad idea in that moment.

The exact timing of Farewell didn't hit me until Chloe mentions that her parents should've been home by now. :( Obviously from the time jump in Season 1 and general dialogue we always knew how close together William's death and Max's departure was, but to actually see the full context here was really something.

Spoiler :
I've seen other people mention the butterfly also, but I didn't even think to look for it so I feel like a bad fan :pac

I def tried to tell Chloe at every opportunity, but you can see from Max's internal turmoil how it might have been her own anxiety that stopped her from writing to Chloe like she promised.

I played the answering machine message, you can basically get Chloe to admit that a girl at school was making fun of her clothes and calling her a scholarship kid... so she tampered with that girl's bunsen burner. She doesn't elaborate beyond saying she knows what she's doing so it wasn't dangerous.

What drawing did Chloe make for you on that scratch pad? Apparently there are four variations. I got the "Max's first tattoo" drawing.

Downloading the Alliance Alive demo. Didn't realize it had one. But, some games have bonuses that carry over from the demos, so it's mostly for that raisin. But, if I don't have fun with it, I can cancel my pre-order... though based on the screenshots I've seen, I think I'll enjoy it just fine.

Edit: My short jaunt with the demo left me with a good impression. Outdated, but charming, and system appropriate, graphics. Music was good. Had a lot of old FF vibes. Didn't quite get the battle system 100% but it's a demo so things aren't fully explained and I am also drinking so... overall, still going to give the full game a chance.

So if I remember correctly, you got Tales of Berseria on sale, right, Del? I've hit the climax in the last few days and HOLY FUCK. 55ish hours in now. Not a short game for busy adults, but I'm still enjoying it (even knowing I have a new game coming tomorrow, help).

Yeah, I got the Steam version at 69% off (nice.) I was planning on popping that seal once I'm done with FFXII HD, but that's taking way longer than I thought, so maybe I'll bump Berseria up the order and take a look at it tonight.

Haha! I just hit Archades. I just saved before having to do favors to get on the taxi, so that puts me exactly one sidequest away from the farthest I've ever been in this game.

I got Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana as a birthday present, and it's a surprisingly deep and fun action RPG. Ys is one of those JRPG franchises where some entries have gotten Western releases and some haven't, and the setting is a pretty generic fantasy world. Because of that, the games' success usually revolve almost entirely on gameplay. And this one's great, fast-moving with decent graphics and plenty of places to explore and side things to do.

I've always been meaning to check out that series, but never knew where to start.

I'm at the end of Tale of Berseria right now, and haven't played in a few days due to time constraints. I'm also playing Alliance Alive. It's not as amazing as everyone online made it out to be, but I'm also not at the spot where it apparently gets good yet. I guess chapter 20 is where things start to pick up, and I'm still in chapter 18.
