Got the pacifist ending in Undertale tonight. Man, this is a game (and soundtrack) that will stick with me. I feel almost bad about eventually (possibly) doing a No Mercy run for completion's sake. It won't be tonight.

Also, spoilers:
Spoiler :
Glad I played Doki Doki Literature Club before this, or else the Flowey killing my screen BS would have made me think something was wrong with my computer. Still hated that battle, but it was obvious after dying a few times that it just let me win. There were several points where I had 1 HP and nothing mattered anymore when I got hit. Not sure if that's because of the Temmie armor or if that always happens.

I beat Resident Evil 7 a couple of days ago and loved it. The final boss fight was terribly easy, but other than that, it was a great game (the connections to RE don't arrive until the very end of the game).

I've also started Danganronpa as it was recommended to me after completing DDLC. Some of my favorite games are those that defy genres, and this one certainly can't be pigeon-holed. Combine these elements if you are curious:

* The social links/interpersonal relationships of Persona.
* That feeling of being stuck in the dorm in Persona 3: The Answer.
* The trials of Phoenix Wright.
* The mayhem of Battle Royale.

I can honestly say that I love all of these characters. That said, the game does take some depressing turns, which are juxtaposed with the game's "funny" aesthetic choices as well as the frenetic pace of the trials.

DR has been on my list for years but every time I think about it, the price is higher than expected. I would guess that the Steam version is cheaper than the Vita ones, though.

Yeah, the first two games were bundled during the Winter Sale. I got both for $20, and they are well worth the investment. Just be warned that it can be a very tense game. Further, if you are still reeling from some of the depressing events in DDLC, some of these trials might have you feeling a little empy by the time they conclude.

DDLC wasn't too bad in terms of depressing material/shock value. I'd be interested in checking out Dragon Romper if it was cheapsies.

I'm not typically into horror games, but I'm excited to see what DDLC was a teaser for.

Okay, I got to the spider lady in Undertale. Fuck her. I gave you all my money. Ease off!

(Next time I play, I think I'll just struggle until my heart is not purple? Worth a shot.)

Honestly, I feel it is worth $20 per game (although I haven't started the second one yet), but I definitely lucked out with the Winter Sale. I've clocked in about 10 hours and I don't think I am even halfway through.

DDLC did introduce me to quite a few visual novels, and I've been asking some of my other friends to play. It's cool to see what Steam has available, but unless a title is rated "Overwhelmingly Positive," many of them are either terribly sub-par or ridiculously over-priced (I'm looking at you, Steins Gate). I didn't think I would ever enjoy this genre, but look at me go.

I think the genre in general is not for me. It was not the basic gameplay that got me, but the subversions and twists.

I'm just in a real bad money spot for the foreseeable future. I like the visual novel genre in general. Even Ace Attorney is, for all intents and purposes, basically this meshed with a hidden item finding game.

Sounds like someone needs to play Aviary Attorney.

DDLC was a teaser?

vore the spider donut or spider cider in front of her if you still have it from the beginning of the game. Otherwise... you're kinda screwed.

I'm doing the No Mercy run now and it makes me feel guilty. Proof that the easier path is definitely not always rewarding.

Edit: Undyne in this run is pure HELL though... everyone else has been easier.

Spoiler :
There are a lot of AR elements hidden in the game and files that hint at what is going on in the game that the studio is making next. It seems the entire raisin for DDLC is a very slick form of marketing. The new game is going to be a horror surrounding a religious cult that abducts young girls and develops in them a psychic ability that turns them into psycho killers. It seems the Doki Doki cast is from that game. MattPat/Game Theory covered it, but there is more to it than he covers in his videos, too. Basically, a lot of the game files, and all of the extra poems are coded messages.

Hmm, never would have caught on to that, but that explains why it's free.

Heh, I guess the STO topic got dead. Anyhoo, if anyone cares, STO is giving away a Bajoran ship for this year's anniversary.

It's got some updates so, yeah, best to start fresh maybe.

And glad you like the game, Bluti! I completely forgot I gifted that, hah!

I wasn't sure what to expect because I went in blind. "Oh, point and click, okay... oh wow, this poor protagonist... at least he has a good sense of humor."

Picked up several games from Humble because of the Winter Sale right now (which will keep going for another day or so). Basically, I picked up stuff that looked whimsical or was incredibly cheap (or both). I am going into most of these blind, but I didn't spend too much cash, and am therefore not too upset:

Darkest Dungeon
The Coma Recut
Her Story
A Little Lily Princess
Total War Shogun 2 Collection
The Novelist
No One But You
Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed
The Night of the Rabbit
Submerged
Kyoto Colorful Days
Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart
Camp Sunshine
A New Beginning Final Cut
Amnesia Memories
RPG Maker MV
Grim Fandango Remastered
D4
Last Word
Highlands
Super Mega Baseball
Goat Simulator

Like I said, I either have many diamonds in the rough to play, or we took a lovely detour into Crap City.

Of course. It has the shortest title!

also I have no clue what most of those even are

A few of them were 90% off, so I figured $3 for a $30-40 game was a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at worst.
