Well, I guess I'm glad I didn't buy the *old* version of Nier...
I'll get to the new one eventually...

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
One of the Civilization V team has a pretty cool new Civ-like thing coming to Steam next month.

I love everything about this map aesthetic and I kinda wanna make the overworlds in my RPGMaker projects look like this now.

Yeah I've had my eye on that game for a year or so, the map didn't look that clean and sharp the last time I looked.

holy shit
https://youtu.be/_XDftanOnJw
amazing how quickly I went from "ehh survival games aren't for me" to "FUCK YES SIGN ME UP" with like one line of subtitles
that and its use of colour and lighting and foilage feels way better and more vibrant than most other survival games I've seen, a ton of which are kinda drab.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
new trademark filings have been made for Advance Wars and Lost Odyssey. new sequels of either feel like outside possibilities, but some kinda collection for the former and a remaster of the latter could be in the cards if we're lucky.

Considering the sudden spurt of 360 JRPG remakes, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Lost Odyssey remaster. I'm in.

is this more a wrestling thread thing or more a games thread thing, I dunno, but I'll put it here anyway: Undertale's Toby Fox made an entire Undertale-ass wrestling promo for NJPW's Kenny Omega.

Lists of anticipated upcoming releases in 2019...

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/0 ... of-2019/1/

I forgot there was an Ace Attorney trilogy package on the way. I'm hoping Anthem does well, even if I don't play it myself, 'cause its success could make or break the future of Bioware. Since we were chatting Advance Wars earlier, it looks like Wargroove might scratch that itch. Obviously, I'm hoping Gathering Storm for Civilization VI finally fills all the little voids I've felt Civ VI has struggled with since it launched.
Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem: Three Houses (and Shin Megami Tensei V if it makes 2019) will probably sell me a Switch if the price is right. Control could be something if it's a little more Alan Wake than Quantum Break. I don't know much about Crackdown, but Crackdown 3 has Terry! I always struggled a bit with LittleBigPlanet's controls, but Dreams looks cool enough to get me over that gap if it's still just as floaty. In The Valley Of Thors should hopefully continue what Campo Santo started with Firewatch.
There's a new Ori? Shame I never touched the original. The Outer Worlds is probably a 2019 GOTY contender if it even comes close to New Vegas. The Pathless is looking like a must for anyone who dug Abzu. Psychonauts 2, somehow, is a thing that exists. I'm definitely keeping an eye on styyyyyle contenders such as Sable and Sayonara Wild Hearts and Vane. I'll be a little shocked if Shenmue 3 accomplishes anything anyone really wants. Spelunky 2 still feels like a wonderful surprise.
Untitled Goose Game? Untitled Goose Game. I still haven't cracked the seal on the modern Wolfenstein games, but Wolfenstein: Youngblood could force me to change that with its wild shift in settings and characters. Finally (for now?) it's not on either of those written lists, perhaps mentioned in the Waypoint podcast list, but Generation Zero launches in 2019, which is kinda Left 4 Dead with robots, and Sunless Skies leaves Early Access in January, joining Sunless Sea and Fallen London on the "super strong literary games you need to play" list.
...oh, and Backbone is a 2019 release, the Vancouver-set (and developed!) detective noir adventure game. A shoutout to Vancouver devs, a lot of whom went through a very bad year of studio closures in 2018.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
The Division 2 and some other Ubi stuff looks to be skipping Steam and launching on Epic.
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/0 ... ore-on-pc/
I ain't a Division guy and I ain't even really an Ubi guy but this feels like a big get for Epic's store. They've already demonstrated their ability to lock down some great exclusives in the indie space, now they've shown some skill doing the same in the AAA space.
Speaking of the Epic store, they're giving away Edith Finch soon if y'all haven't played that yet.

I mean, I'm not really a Destiny guy or a Bungie guy, but yeah, it's a pretty big deal.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Yeah from what I hear Bungie have been annoyed about being told what games to make, so hopefully they've been stewing on some great ideas that they can get stuck into now. Oni 2 I see you

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
I wonder what this means for Destiny 2 in the Battle.net launcher, since that and Blizzard are under the Activision umbrella. I can't imagine they'd pull it or stop updating it just to move it somewhere else, but.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Oh hell yeah, Oni, I forgot all about that. I would play the shit out of a rebooted Oni. I sorta remember the original being like a cyberpunk Tomb Raider or something so if a reboot or sequel followed the same path it would be pretty sweet.
(Bungie might stand a chance at getting that out before Cyberpunk 2077, too )

That's cool, dude. Thanks.“It’s a woman who is masturbating,” Pitchford said, “and when she has some experience that appears as if she’s having an orgasm, a huge amount of fluid comes out of her vagina.”
