this looks like it could scratch Falcon's Scandinavian itch and maybe also my Never Alone: Kisima Inŋitchuŋa itch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx4E4XuQi0Y

no platform details of any kind, but it's labeled as an E3 trailer, so maybe it'll show up later in one of the conference sizzle reels or in its own space

Giant good boy doggos! Yeah I'll play that unless it's like Switch only or something.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable with the industry can help me with this: Why does some DLC disappear? I can understand limited-time DLC to coincide with holidays or a specific event like the World Cup or Olympics. But is there a more general raisin why a publisher might choose to make DLC unavailable after some period of time?

Actually Days Gone is doing this. They have some kind of team-up hard mode that's available for about a month. I likely won't be ready before it expires, so I'm not going to bother, but it's kind of annoying that they did that. Hopefully, it's more of an event that comes and goes. It does seem to be free, at least.

Older stuff can often get taken down if it has licensed content within, such as music.

Bloodstained is out! I backed the Kickstarter with a physical copy, so I'll wait patiently for that to find its way to NZ... but in the meantime here's the launch trailer:

There were a few surprises in this trailer for me: character customisation, some old style 2d levels, and that axe-armor-esque (but famous) ending! I'm HYPE. :awesome

I'm not sure if this tickles anyone's fancy other than C6 but Disaster Report 4 lives, and it's coming next year, even to the PC.

Aww shit, I didn't know this was getting localized.

The original Disaster Report (and its hilariously named sequel RAW DANGER) were fun but probably play like shit by today's standards. Raw Danger lets you be stone cold by letting your high school bully fall to her death though:

whoa, there's gonna be a Final Fantasy XIV TV series.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/0 ... -hivemind/

also, it's by the folks behind The Expanse and the upcoming Witcher TV adaption. who knows how Witcher will turn out, but Expanse has some pretty legit cred.

e: or at least a series using XIV's setting, but with elements of the whole franchise (which I guess is how XIV works already since there's Ivalice stuff in there and who knows what else)

Hey, here's a documentary about the Dreamcast, featuring a bunch of Sega folks and notable third-party cats from that era - Hiroshi Iuchi (Ikaruga), Kenji Kanno (Crazy Taxi), Masayoshi Kikuchi (Jet Set Radio), Rieko Kodama (!) (Eternal Arcadia), Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Space Channel 5 / Rez), Tetsu Okano (Segagaga), Yoot Saito (Seaman) & Hiroaki Yotoriyama (SoulCalibur)

So of course, we get official news about the Switch Lite a mere 5 days after I buy my Switch. Kind of knew that would happen.

That said... I liked the TV mode the few times I've used it so far. Not my preferred mode, but I do like having the option, since it's better than being tethered to the AC cord if it needs to charge. Haven't tried tabletop mode yet. Also, I don't like the color options of the Lite, and it comes out in September, so I wouldn't have been able to play 3 Houses on release day.

So, good idea, but for only $100 more, I don't regret buying the regular.

Interesting idea, but doesn't that hella restrict the games you can play? Like you'd need 4 switch lites to play Mario Kart?

I can't remember if Mario Kart is one of those games that only requires a single copy for local multiplayer. I'm pretty sure Nintendo used to do that with handheld stuff, no idea if it's still a thing.

But at this point maybe more people are just using online multiplayer.

It does sound like there may be other restrictions, probably involving whatever games are built more for the docked mode than the handheld or tabletop modes. That feels like it'd be a small number of titles though, most folks are probably designing around the possibility of players using whatever mode. Also sounds like HD rumble is gone for the Lite, but barely anything was using it anyway.

e: that said, the Lite will be $100 cheaper than the base Switch, so the tradeoff might be worthwhile for some folks - a significant chunk of the 3DS playerbase who hasn't already moved onto the Switch, for instance.

My guess is that it's aimed at players like me that play 1-player games pretty much exclusively, and prefer handheld. If it weren't for that September release date, I would have at least considered it over the normal model... had it been announced before I bought it.

The Sw/Sh edition at least has a better color scheme than the normal ones.

Mario Kart (and Mario Party) can do 4 player local with just one copy of the game. I can see the use case for this though, there are plenty of people who never dock already.

Huh; looks like Wargroove is coming out on PS4. Might have to get it there, instead of Steam.

Oh wow, that's promising. I consider it criminal we've gone this long without a good Cowboy Bebop-esque game.
