This cyberpunk delivery driving game looks rad as heck:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDEDICQEze0
Basically you're driving semi-legal deliveries around a Fifth Element-esque future city. Pretty light on details, but the vibe is enough for me.

I'm glad it finally has a date. I feel like I've been seeing the same three Cloudpunk gifsets reblogged endlessly in Tumblr's cyberpunk tag for years now. The vibe's good enough for me too, I'll probably grab it right away if the price is right.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Oh, The Longing is out. It's billed as an "ultra-slow adventure/idle game" with a 400-day timer that starts running from whenever you first launch it and continues when closed. So maybe a bit like Stanley Parable's weird time-based achievements expanded into a full game concept, wherein the game is mainly exploration... and waiting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M67WecraicA
Supposedly there's a lot of public domain classic lit scattered about should you wish to spend some of those 400 days reading Moby Dick or something. Bits like that make me wish there were a Switch version.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
That's a really cool idea, I wonder how well it signposts things that you have to just wait to solve, and how long it takes for them to happen.
I feel like the potential failing of the game is if you log in after like a week and nothing has changed. I wonder if you can just wait till the last day and everything is already solved

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
It sounds like you can indeed do exactly that, but it'll have some (adverse?) loneliness effect on the character. Maybe you'll get a different ending that way?
I've seen folks elsewhere saying there's a ton to explore though, and I imagine at least one aspect of that might also change the ending. It's kind of a fascinating approach, as regardless of how you play you'll still be waiting 400 days to see the results.
Presumably we're past the point where players can simply game the timer by altering their Windows system clock a la cheesing The End in Snake Eater.

...Amnesia: Rebirth was announced recently but I won't be playing it 'cause it'll just make me run away screaming. The original Amnesia might still hold the record for fastest NOPE time for me, so

Yeah I got pretty far in Amnesia before I realised I didn't really want to bother with it anymore. There's definitely a market for it though, so I hope the Patricks of the world enjoy the new one.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
After weeks (months?) of leaks and rumours, Horizon Zero Dawn for PC is finally official and its Steam page is already up. It'll be out sometime in the summer, and in its Complete form, Frozen Wilds expansion + various bonus items included.
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2020/0 ... is-summer/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1151 ... e_Edition/
No PC-specific details as yet, but Horizon looks almost impossibly good even on a basic PS4, so I imagine most competent PC builds over the last five years or so should run it just as nicely with no issues. It'd be nice if they do what Sega does with their PC ports re: uncapped framerates and shinier 4K support and blah blah blah, but we'll see.
I wonder if the price will be competitive with the PS4 version, which goes on sale like once a month at ridiculously good discounts. Shit. There's a very real chance I'll buy it again and sink another hundred hours into it again regardless. GOTY 2017, support your GOTYs.
Also in the summer...

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
I'll def pick up H:ZD when it comes to PC. I'm not sure I'm into the way they remastered the videos, but so long as you've got the "I'm a mechanical man!" and "J-J-J-Just Do it up!" songs then I'm happy lol.
--edit--
Oh wait, it's Red Alert - those songs were only in C&C1 lol

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Both C&Cs of that era and all their expansions will be in the package, so you'll get your Mechanical Man.
Both the original OST version and a remastered OST, I believe.
Mechanical Man is classic but for some raisin it's always Great Shot that amuses me the most
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImiUG0qwTQM
If people still used phones as phones in 2020 this would be my ringtone right now.
And yeah I'm kinda skeptical of the AI-based remastering process they're using for the FMV sequences. Maybe the tech will be there in a few years, but for now it always looks pretty half-baked whenever I see it used. Brad's example on the Bombcast of fans using it to "HD" scenes from DS9 never look as good as the fans keep trying to tell me.
I imagine EA/Westwood must've lost the original master files or kept them in a format that couldn't be futureproofed/would be cost-prohibitive to do so, otherwise they wouldn't have to bother with algorithmic solutions. Whatever the case, it's at least an interesting small-scale test for the tech. Maybe someday it'll get good enough for larger scale deployment and we'll finally get DS9/B5 on Blu-Ray.

Blade Runner Enhanced Edition is coming from Nightdive. Not to be confused with the GOG version, which is more or less a straight port of the 1997 original, this new one will update a lot of visuals and offer some modern features like widescreen and controller support.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Quite good, particularly if you're into the original film at all, the game's story works pretty well as a companion piece. But its design is very much of its time so any QOL stuff in the Enhanced Edition will certainly be nice to have vs. the more barebones GOG version.
Giant Bomb managed to get the original original working well enough for a run years ago.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NFp4iSHvTo
They just did a fresh run with the GOG version as well. Probably worth tossing five bones at their paywall someday.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
Hm, I'm hearing variously sourced rumors that Sony is trying to get Konami and Hideo Kojima back together to revive Silent Hills on the PS5. Here's the most thorough article:
https://comicbook.com/gaming/2020/03/13 ... on-konami/
Not enough to get truly excited for yet, but I have no doubt that Sony would absolutely love it to be true. I actually find the Konami piece harder to believe than Kojima.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
I've been hearing whispers about that for a while but it's hard to believe given everything we know about modern Konami's disposition and the Konami-Kojima split
it was a headline news item on Kinda Funny today though so it's not going unnoticed by actual games press folks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT_Zfgnp0ew&t=381s
I agree with Greg when he says it sounds too perfect. A Silent Hills revival, a separate Silent Hill reboot, and Kojima Productions on development? Pick two, at most, and even then it feels unlikely, 'cause yeah, Konami.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
I wonder if Konami's gameplan is to wait however long they think is necessary to maximize potential nostalgia dollars. Maybe that's the calculation? Because plenty of their old IPs would make bank. There's gotta be something more keeping their powder dry.

Re: [Game News] + General Gamesy Chatter
I don't think Konami has a gameplan or a calculation beyond "do we feel like making a game today?" the answer to which is usually "nah." They've diversified their business well beyond game development/publishing, they don't have to do anything in this space any more if they don't want to.

That's a lot of content for fifteen bones. I'd say if you're into that style of game even a little bit, go for it.
